CAMP COUNSELOR
8 needed at each camp
NATURE OF POSITION
To enhance the campers experience at UB Youth Camps, while taking responsibility for their health and well being. Counselors have one of the richest experiences at camp. It is an opportunity to connect personally with campers and develop relationships with them and have the chance to represent Jesus to them and point them to the truth, hope and life that is found in God.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Live in a cabin with campers. (8 - 10 campers)
- Assume responsibility for leadership and guidance of those campers in daily living, with special attention to: personal hygiene and safety, camper participation in all camp activities, mealtime behavior and habits.
- Assume responsibility for interpreting the rules, policies and traditions of the camp to the camper.
- Serve as a good example in personal language, appearance and health habits.
- Assume responsibility for health and welfare of campers entrusted to his or her charge.
- Aid program staff during activities and be an active part of all camp activities.
- Lead cabin in participation of Camper Chapel and Skit Night (all-cabin participation)
- Lead one team in rec. event competitions
- Assumes all other duties and assignments deemed appropriate by the Camp Director and Program Director.
- Be able to observe camper behavior in daily camp life, to respond verbally to health and safety concerns and to deal appropriately with any improper behavior.
- Develop a good working relationship with the program staff, nurse, kitchen staff, and camp director. Provide leadership and support to fellow counselors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 18 years of age for Jr High and Junior Camp.
- Be at least 21 years of age for Teen Camp.
- Interested in working with youth in a group living situation.
- Interested in developing personal leadership skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with campers and staff.
- Flexibility with ability to accept supervision.
- Ability to relate to one's peers as well as children.
- Organized with good communication skills.
- Possess strong leadership skills.
- Emotionally mature, willing to accept responsibility.
- Exhibit the ability to place the needs of the campers and the camp above their own.
- Team player that can relate positively to all staff, volunteers and campers.
- Be in good health and able to perform basic physical activities.

LIFEGUARD
2 needed at each camp
NATURE OF POSITION
Provide supervision and safety guidelines for all waterfront activities/recreation.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Present at all waterfront activities/rotary for supervision and guidance.
- Enforce waterfront rules and restrict any violators from entering the water.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 16 years of age for Jr. High and Junior Camp
- Be at least 19 years of age for Teen Camp.
- Certified Lifeguard training (CPR and First Aid)
- Exhibit the ability to place the needs of the campers and the camp above their own.
- Team player that can relate positively to all staff, volunteers and campers.
- Assumes all other duties and assignments deemed appropriate by the Camp Director and Program Director.
- Aid program staff during activities and be an active part of all camp activities.

CRAFT COORDINATOR / ASSISTANT
1 Coordinator and 1 Assistant needed at each camp
NATURE OF POSITION
Enhance the camp experience through the preparation and execution of hand crafts that campers can develop skills and sense the accomplishment of bringing home a completed project.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan out and coordinate at least 2 craft options.
- Gather all needed material and submit receipts to Camp Coordinator
- Present craft options to campers and show a "finished product"
- Oversee campers and assist when needed during the afternoon rotary time.
- Work with 2 to 3 cabins at one time in giving craft instruction and aid.
- Develop relationships with campers during the craft time.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 16 years of age for Jr. High and Junior Camp
- Be at least 19 years of age for Teen Camp.
- Interested in developing personal leadership skills.
- Organized with good communication skills.
- Emotionally mature, willing to accept responsibility.

COOKS
1 Head Cook; 5 cooking helpers needed at each camp
NATURE OF POSITION
Minister to staff and campers by maintaining the kitchen and preparing all meals and snacks for designated times.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and cook full course meals including cooking and handling of food including bakery goods and desserts, stocks, soups and sauces, eggs and dairy, Cold kitchen (salads, sandwiches), cereals, vegetables, fruits, meat, etc.
- Preparation of Breakfasts, Lunches, Dinners, Buffet, All meals, snacks
- Clean kitchen and work areas
- Head cook holds additional responsibilities (please contact Camp Co-ordinator for more information)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 16 years of age for Jr. High and Junior Camp
- Be at least 19 years of age for Teen Camp.
- Can prepare and cook full course meals
- Inspect kitchen and food service areas
- Ability to follow recipes, understanding of measurements etc.
- Ability for numeracy, reading text, oral communication
- Exhibit the ability to place the needs of the campers and the camp above their own.
- Team player that can relate positively to all staff, volunteers and campers.
- Assumes all other duties and assignments deemed appropriate by the Camp Director and Program Director.

PHOTOGRAPHER
1 needed at each camp
NATURE OF POSITION
A creative eye to capture the essence of camp in video/still photography and prepare a final CD copy at the end of the week.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all photographs are taken from the Photography list
- Take video footage of camp activities
- Ensure camp photo's are transferred to main laptop for viewing prior to main sessions
- Sort all material before week end and put no more than 100 photo's (of best quality) on one CD for the Camp Director
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 16 years of age for Jr. High and Junior Camp
- Be at least 19 years of age for Teen Camp.
- A creative eye for photography and/or video.
- Exhibit the ability to place the needs of the campers and the camp above their own.
- Team player that can relate positively to all staff, volunteers and campers.
- Assumes all other duties and assignments deemed appropriate by the Camp Director and Program Director.
- Bringing your own camera's is an asset but not mandatory (let us know if you have a digital camera/video recorder)

HANDYPERSON / NIGHT SECURITY
2 needed at each camp
NATURE OF POSITION
Maintain a smooth running of the camp program through facilities upkeep.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Building of all campfires
- Emptying of all trash receptacles.
- Provide routine maintenance for any facility needs
- Driving of Tractor and wagon.
- Ensure safety of campers and property through grounds patrol.
- Two staff will alternate between a day shift and a night shift.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 16 years of age for Jr. High and Junior Camp
- Be at least 19 years of age for Teen Camp.
- Exhibit the ability to place the needs of the campers and the camp above their own.
- Knowledge of tools and "fix-it" jobs
- Team player that can relate positively to all staff, volunteers and campers.
- Assumes all other duties and assignments deemed appropriate by the Camp Director and Program Director.

DISHWASHER
5 needed at each camp
NATURE OF POSITION
Provide support to kitchen staff through kitchen clean up and dishwashing.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wash, disinfect and dry all dishes, cookware, pots, pans after meals
- Assist in meal preparation clean up.
- Available to kitchen staff for support and assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 16 years of age for Jr. High and Junior Camp
- Be at least 19 years of age for Teen Camp.
- Exhibit the ability to place the needs of the campers and the camp above their own.

NURSE
1 needed at each camp
NATURE OF POSITION
Provide oversight of all health related issues at the camp, including medication and first aid.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Camper and staff medicine collection at registration
- First Aid, Medication administration, documentation, Health Record review
- Communication with parents on campers with medical conditions
- Attend to minor illnesses and injuries
QUALIFICATIONS
- RPN or RN

RECREATION COORDINATOR
3 needed at each camp
NATURE OF POSITION
Enhance the camp experience through the preparation and execution of activities such as games, sports, canoeing, swimming, and archery. A great opportunity to teach campers the thrill of physical activity and competition while maintaining positive attitudes and relationships.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee rotary times every afternoon (Monday - Thursday) with 2 or 3 cabins at a time.
- Arrange/oversee a variety of activities for the afternoon schedule that may include such options as canoeing, craft, swimming, ropes course, archery, slip and slide, tubing, etc.)
- Find creative ways to assemble six teams at the Sunday evening Rec. Time. Campers will participate in team events all week with these teams. (approx. 10-15 campers per team plus one counselor per team as team leader)
- Maintain the Team scoreboards and keep track of points for events and memory verses and update scores every day.
- Organize a Thursday evening "Wide Game" (i.e. Capture the flag etc.) where all campers participate.
- Assumes all other duties and assignments deemed appropriate by the Camp Director and Program Director.
- Aid program staff during activities and be an active part of all camp activities.
- Jr. High & Junior Camps
- Run evening rec. times (Monday & Thursday) at Jr. High and Junior Camps in which teams can compete for points. (i.e. Relays etc.)
- Teen Camp
- Organize Rec. times for morning and after supper to include games/competitions for teams to earn points.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 16 years of age for Jr. High and Junior Camp
- Be at least 19 years of age for Teen Camp.
- Interested in developing personal leadership skills.
- Organized with good communication skills.
- Possess strong leadership skills.

WORSHIP COORDINATOR
1 needed at each camp
NATURE OF POSITION
Enhance the camp experience through leading campers and staff in times of worship and connection with God, through multiple mediums (i.e. Music, art, poetry, visual, video etc.) A great chance to help campers experience God through self-expression.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead in times of corporate worship at campfires, during Bible Discovery time and chapels.
- Lead staff during pre-camp in worship times
- Assumes all other duties and assignments deemed appropriate by the Camp Director and Program Director.
- Aid program staff during activities and be an active part of all camp activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 16 years of age for Jr. High and Junior Camp
- Be at least 19 years of age for Teen Camp.
- Interested in developing personal leadership skills.
- Organized with good communication skills.
- Ability to led groups of students in worship.
- Musical ability
- Able to involve others in the leading of worship
- Exhibit the ability to place the needs of the campers and the camp above their own.
