The Right Reverend Brian K. Magnus, an ordained elder in the United Brethren Church in Canada, was first elected Superintendent of the Ontario Conference of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ in 1990.· That title changed to President in 1992 when the Canadian arm of the church realized that it needed to be administratively independent of the U.B. Headquarters located in the United States. When the worldwide United Brethren Church adopted a new international structure with full autonomy for each National Conference in 2002, Rev. Magnus was elected as the first Bishop of the United Brethren Church in Canada.
Bishop Magnus received a Bachelor of Theology degree (Pastoral Ministries) from Emmanuel Bible College (Kitchener, ON) in 1980 and Master of Christian Ministries degree from Huntington University in 1981.
Bishop Magnus was ordained in 1982. He served as Youth Pastor and Associate Pastor of the Garrison Road Church in Fort Erie, ON from 1978 to 1983. From 1984 to 1988 he pastored the New Hope U.B. Church in Toronto. In 1988 he began serving as the Senior Pastor of the Parkwood Gardens Church in Guelph, ON.
Bishop Magnus' passion for ministry centers on two primary calls: first, to communicate the Scriptures as God’s Word in faithful and relevant ways to our world today and second, to assist God’s people to be truly the church in the 21st century.
Bishop Magnus and his wife, Lynette, have five children who all serve the Lord in various capacities; David, Heather, Holly, Wendy and Christopher.
The Magnuses reside in Guelph, Ontario. |
